Laura Schwager, BA
Laura graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Design Anthropology, a self-directed program of study focusing on global development at the intersection of environmental science and human health. Laura joined the APLM lab in September 2021. As the lab manager and research associate, she organizes and leads projects and helps to develop and execute protocol relating to the lab's central research focus; the mechanistic exploration of the relationship between childhood psychosocial stress and premature cardiometabolic disease risk. Her personal research interests also include dietary and lifestyle interventions for neurological and mood disorders. As a hEDS/HSD patient, she is interested in efficacy of both modifiable lifestyle interventions and regenerative medicine, and has recently become interested in the effects of SARS-CoV-2 viral persistence on neurological and immune symptomology in hEDS and HSD.
