Biography

Laura graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Design Anthropology, a self-directed program of study focusing on global development at the intersection of environmental science and human health. Laura joined the APLM lab in September 2021. As the lab manager and research associate, she organizes projects and helps to design and execute protocol relating to the lab's central research focus; the mechanistic exploration of the relationship between ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) and cardiometabolic disease risk. Her research interests also include dietary and lifestyle interventions for neurological disease states and mood disorders. As a hEDS/HSD patient, she has recently become interested in the effects of SARS-CoV-2 viral persistence on neurological and immune symptomology in hEDS and HSD.
