Biography

Laura graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Design Anthropology, a self-directed program of study focusing on global development at the intersection of environmental science and public health. Laura joined the APLM lab in September 2021. As the Research Associate, she manages the lab, organizes and leads projects, and helps to develop and execute protocol relating to the lab's central research focus; the mechanistic exploration of the relationship between childhood psychosocial stress and premature cardiometabolic disease risk.

Her personal research interests include dietary and lifestyle interventions for treatment-resistance neurological and mood disorders. As a hEDS/HSD patient, she is also interested in efficacy of both modifiable lifestyle interventions and regenerative medicine, and has recently become interested in the effects of SARS-CoV-2 viral persistence on neurological and immune symptomology in hEDS and HSD.
